shading

some fleshy-painty shading tests... sorry a bit boring.

Shots... grr argh you're dead!

Some shots I've been working on, though getting the lighting right between monitors is a bit of a pain.

Mushroomy men v.2

3d version... rigged and ready to go.. just need some hair and moustache.

Mushroomy men

The beardy face is the one I'm using for the final leshii.. though he can turn into a wolf with a suit on when he pleases, that'll be a bit hard to animate but what the hey! Right now I'm texturing the little mushroom men that live on his back.

Leshii drawing

A Leshii is a kind of forest spirit in Russian pagan belief. Some people still believe in him but mostly it's just a part of fairy tales. He's usually a little old man who seems mischievous and sometimes evil, only because he's protecting his forest. In fairy tales he'll often help the hero so long as he doesn't harm the forest.

I'm not great at long drawings, I get bored too fast, as you can see there are bits that I just got sick of, you can tell what I did last cuz I couldn't be bothered. It's one of the first drawings I've done completely on the computer though, a bit weird but good practice.

Sketchy Leshii

Sketches before drawing Leshii.

Panasonic Love

Here she is, if my camera was a person... hang on I'll draw a picture :)

My Two Favourite Melbournians

Here are my Two Favourite Melbournians. Shubs and Jacky.

Boots

I bought some groovy new Docs in Melbourne kind of on a whim 'cuz the salesman knew what he was on about. Nice detail!

This is my favourite photo from Melbourne. Look look they're pushing, he's a-coming to Australia.. oh and there's a seagull on 'is head.

Here's some pictures from the Pixar exhibition in melbourne. I'd put up some photos from the Pixar speakers' presentations but I'm not sure that's allowed.

Panasonic FZ7

YAY I finally got a camera.. an uber cool camera. Here are some photos displaying its sheer superior beauty. Funny thing about cameras is you can't use them to take photos of themselves.. aw

Sheep Man

A sketch from this morning of a character for my animation, inspired by Shaun Tan's cat-thing from 'The Arrival' and the many sheep on the drive home from Melbourne.

Festival Doodles

Didn't really do any 'drawing' while I was in melbourne, just doodles, mostly of speakers from the animation conference. Here are a few.

Sparrow!

This is a drawing I did for Jacky's birthday. I started with the sparrow, which I got the idea for from 'Mindgame'. It's pretty dark and it's got a lot of detail so look at the full picture instead of the preview. I wish I had time to put in a lot more snakes.

I probably won't have time to do anything exciting drawing-wise because I'll be marking class stuff, and then going to Melbourne for MIAF. But see you after that with some Uber-inspiration!

old drawing.. saved from the clutches of myspace, drew it when I was in Canada.

Artrage cont...

ARTRAGE!!! grrrr argh

here's some old pictures I did on Artrage I thought I'd take away off my god-forsaken myspace. They're all the sketched-out children of procrastination.

Me and ma coat!

Yay.. I bought a nice new coat.. so I drew a picture of our time together. I've always been a bit bad at self portraits, I can't really tell if it looks like me, something's amiss.. as you can tell I got a bit lazy by the time I did the hands, hence the disillusioned mess with the fingers.
**fixed the colour a bit and (thanks to nomis) made the eyes look a bit better, though you can't tell in this mini-pic anyway.

Phone Doodles

Sorry I've been reading books about cultural modernity (there's uni phrase I'm sick of reading)... but here's some doodles I've done while on the phone.

Character Sketches 2

Character Sketches

Some sketches I tried last night for the main character in the animation I'm supposed to be starting this year.

Sea Monster

2 minute sketch while watching my sister fish for beautifully rendered sea creatures in Okami.

Photoshop Watercolour Sky

Tried to create some watercolour paintbrushes in Photoshop today. Here's my first ever attempt at digital watercolour.. pretty horid but it'll get better (we hope).

Kikimara

I drew this in my lunch break yesterday.. my dad kept telling me I looked like a kikimara... I didn't really know what it was, but it's a sort of Russian mythical creature. She's the daughter of the Vadinoy (a water demon of sorts) and she sits in the forest and goes 'hoo-hoo' to scare away people so they don't hurt the forest. I don't know what one looks like, except that she has messy hair because that's why dad called me 'kikimara'. So here is my rendition.
She has stolen a pretty lady's scarf to make herself look more lady-like.

Illustration Friday : "Neighbour"

Here's a sketch I did last night for the "Neighbour" theme of illustration friday. I live in an apartment and the only neighbours I really get to know are the pidgeons that sit on my slanted window.

again...

Here I am trying to start another blog... or at least somewhere for some of my pictures to live.

Here's a girl I drew night before last. Looks a bit too anime, I don't like the eyes especially. But still fun to do.
